the Spot

Think of a Lagoon, a big Lagoon, well, think of the biggest Lagoon you can imagine and you´ll get an idea of Kalpitiya.
Our home base during the Event will be the De Silva Windresort right on the spot, right on the water. The experienced riders amongst you will start right in front of the Center while the beginner lessons will take place a little further out on a Sandbank where we will get shuttled by boat and have all the space you could wish for to practise.

Freeriders, as well as Freestylers or Strapless Riders will find insane conditions, flat, shallow 28°C to 30°C warm water and constant winds. Between December and February the wind is blowing averagely 4-6 days a week with 15-20 knots from the north west.

Besides the Lagoon in front of the Resort, there are of course other spots to discover as well. During our stay we will make sure you´re able the discover the whole beauty and all possibilities this place has to offer.

Accommodation & Food

Built in a natural style, typical for Sri Lanka, the little houses are settled in between coconut trees, right on the beach. Each room has a nice terrace equipped with hammocks and a stunning view over the lagoon and the Indian Ocean. We´re sure you will love, watching the sunset out of your hammock after an amazing day on the water...

In the restaurant and surfbar of the resort, typical Sri Lankan meals are served. The variety is huge, reaching from fresh fruits, delicious Rice & Curries, grilled chicken, fresh fish, prawns, crabs and other seafood direclty fished from the regional fishers, vegetables served in different ways, salads and soups, sweets and a lot more!

Of course Sri Lanka has more to offer than just kiteboarding at Kalpitiya and no matter how good the conditions might be, not visiting some of the other amazing sites would be a shame.

Therefore on our "must experience list" is:

Surf Trip to the south

swimming with Dolphins

Wilpattu National Park

climbing the lion rock of Sigirya
